Diabetes normally occurs to people who are above 45 years of
age, obese, physically inactive or those who have family history of diabetes. Diabetes
is one of the most common illnesses which cause your blood sugar levels to
become higher than usual affecting many people around the world. Diabetes can be categorized into Type 1 and
Type 2 Diabetes. Type 2 Diabetes is a
condition which does not allow the body to use the insulin it produces
appropriately which is stored in the blood stream and insulin is important for
regulating the movement of sugar in our cells.
Type 2
Diabetes occurs due to the body cells becoming insulin resistance and
when there is too much sugar in the bloodstream for a long period, muscle and
fat cells will ignore the directions of insulin to take sugar from the blood thereby
accumulating more sugar in the bloodstream. Under normal condition, your
pancreas produces adequate insulin to drive sugar into your cells. Most people who suffer from Type 2 Diabetes
are obese as the excess sugar in the body is sometimes converted and stored as
cholesterol. Sedentary lifestyle, smoking and unhealthy diet are the main
factors associated with the development Type 2 Diabetes though the disease can
also be hereditary.
People suffering from Type 2 Diabetes experience tiredness,
numbness in the feet, increased hunger, excessive thirst and an urge to urinate
often. The other symptoms are weight loss,
slow healing of infections and blurred vision.
If it is not controlled in time, it could lead to distressing effects
like heart failure, effect on the eyes and kidneys, etc.
People with Type 2 Diabetes can now control or even reverse
the condition by following a healthy diet and exercising regularly to keep your
body fit. Herbal
anti-diabetic supplements are also effective and help control and
monitor blood sugar levels in a safe way.
