What foods should A Diabetic eat?


People suffering from Type 2 Diabetes should eat a right balance of healthy food in order to maintain a normal blood sugar level and achieve optimal serum lipid levels and a healthy blood pressure.   One should eat more fruits and vegetables as they are rich in minerals and nutrients as well as high in fiber.  However, there are fruits that contain high levels of sugar and hence it should be eaten with other foods and in moderation. Even vegetables should be eaten in the right amount and at the right time. Starchy vegetables that include potatoes, sweet potatoes should be avoided.  Meat can be eaten but all fats should be cut from the meat.  Avoid bacon, ham, sausages and other fast foods.  Fish, legumes, cheese, nuts and eggs are good source of protein.
Carbs should be not taken regularly as it alters blood sugar level but you should not completely eliminate carbs from your diet so you can have brown rice, oatmeal, corn, wheat germ in moderation.  People suffering from Type 2 diabetes should eat the food recommended above as it contains a lot of nutrients and fiber and always remember to eat in moderation.
